Postaural or Behind the Ear (BTE) Hearing Aids

These aids are suitable for all kinds of hearing loss from mild to severe. The focus in recent years has been to decrease the size of the instrument and improve the quality of the sound.

Usually BTE aids are less expensive than 'In-The-Ear' (ITE) Hearing Aids.

RIC or 'Receiver -in-the-Canal

The most popular of recent developments. Very small behind the ear hearing aids connected by a fine wire to the receiver ( speaker ) in the ear canal. Exceptionally good for high frequency hearing losses. There ability and technology is improving all the time.

Can be a lot more descreet than some 'in-the-ear' hearing aids !!

Full Shell or 'Concha' Hearing Aid

Suitable for most kinds of hearing loss although the size of the hearing aid still puts some restrictions on the amount of power we are able to place in the instrument.

The most economical form of In-The-Ear hearing aid, although less cumbersome and more comfortable than most BTE aids, cosmetically they may be more apparent.

You are the one who should choose which size of hearing aid is best for your lifestyle. It is no use purchasing a hearing aid that you are not going to wear because you don't like the look of it or you feel uncomfortable about wearing it. The only limitation you will have is whether your hearing loss can be fitted by the size you choose, we will be able to guide you in your choice, but our priority and advice will always be towards better hearing, and cosmetic appeal will be secondary.
